Welcome!

Welcome to Lindsay’s Preschool and Childcare!

About Lindsay:

 Hello All,

I am so excited for you to come on this journey with me. Not only will you gain knowledge about the early years of childhood, tips/tricks for parents, or anyone who is regularly around young children, you will also be able to see how I operate my personal preschool program to get my littles ready for Kindergarten! I will be sharing my lesson plans, along with the activities and crafts we do. These newsletters will have links to the products that I have for everything that is young children. I will also be including video reels that I have created to educate and give ideas for teaching your littles at home.

A little background on me (Lindsay). It is honestly silly to me that I now own and operate my own preschool. As an older child, and even a teen, I really wanted to go into the criminal justice field. I had never considered working with children.

As I grew older and had worked at an in-home childcare for a while, I started to really enjoy it! Seeing how excited the children would get when they learned something new solidified it all for me. I went on to get my Early Childhood Education Degree from Baker College and have worked with young children, ever since.

I have worked with all early childhood ages but have found that Preschool is my niche. Over the years, I have worked my way up from, Teacher Assistant, to Lead Preschool Teacher and I now own and operate my own In-Home Preschool! I have also expanded my Preschool into Lindsay’s Preschool and Childcare Resource Center, where I create and publish early learning resources for young children, on amazon! These can all be found on my website!

About Lesson Plans and Newsletters:

Here at LP&C, I provide all parents with weekly lesson plans, monthly newsletters and more! I am excited to now be able to share these things, with you all, too. Since this is our first newsletter together, I want to share my Circle Time Routine and how I manage that with young children. In my lesson plans, you will notice how I list out the itinerary for each Circle Time.:

Circle Time Itinerary:

  • ABC’s with Flashcards: I make large flashcards for each letter of the alphabet. With these, we sing our ABC’s as I flip through the flashcards. This way the children can see the letters as they are saying them!

  • Sounding out Letters of the Month: We focus on 4/5 letters, per month. After we sing our ABC’s, we go to our Monthly Letter Flashcards and focus on those. I show the children each letter, individually, they say the letter, a few words that start with the letter and then we sound it out together. We do all of this while looking at the letter. This way, the children are correlating the letter to the sound and the words that we come up with.

  • Writing Practice: We take one of our monthly letters, per day, and practice writing it. We use small chalkboards that have stickers placed in each top-left corner, where most upper case letters start. I demonstrate how to write the letter and then the children practice on their boards.

  • Day of the Week/Weather of the Day: We then move on to our day of the week. Here we talk about what the previous day was, what today is and what tomorrow will be. We identify the number of the day (the date). We count up to that number together. We name the month, season and identify the weather occurring that day.

  • Book of the Day: I always choose books that go along with our weekly themes. I will be linking these in each newsletter so you are able to access them! We go over where the back cover is, front cover, spine, what the spine does, who write the words, who draws the pictures and we identify what is on the front cover.

  • We then move into our daily craft/activity or experiment.

*Note: Planning Time and Free-Choice/Recall is what comes after our Circle Time.

This concludes our Circle Time! We usually spend about 20-25minutes on this. If you have any specific questions about how to implement Circle Time at home, feel free to send me an email.

I absolutely love what I do, and I am so excited that you’re here!

With Love, Lindsay Priest
